Online backup leader Mozy today announced version 2.0 of the service's Mac software. The client works with both MozyPro for business backup or MozyHome for personal use.
In addition to a new native Mac interface, the new client speeds up both file scanning and upload times through bandwidth optimization. It also shows users more information about what it's doing.
"This release underscores our commitment to the Mac community," said Russ Stockdale, vice president of product management for Mozy. "We didn't want to simply take Mozy 2.0 for Windows and make it work on a Mac; we wanted to make a version of our service that looked and felt like a Mac application – so that's what we've done. We plan to continue to be a market leader with online backup for Mac users."
The new client also avails Mac users of more advanced backup settings such as rules for including or excluding specific data types. It's also more stable, includes a new setup wizard, and an on/off switch for automatic backups.
