Not only can you display calendars on your desktop but you can also display short notes and even diary entries. Once a week you can download a free high resolution image (at least 1680x1200, soon 1920x1440) for your desktop background. You can display images as a desktop background, with or without embedded calendars or notes or print wall calendars using simple calendar designer tool included within the program.
