For the most part, photo viewing solutions are targeted to be universal, i.e. do not do any assumptions regarding the display resolution or viewed image. However, exploring that info can give much more optimal structure and as the result - effective screen usage. This can be especially useful for a laptops with a small displays, where empty fields are not acceptable.
That is what Tweed does.
Assuming the most often photo proportion is about 4/3 and widescreen is ~4.8/3 (1280×800), Tweed got a structure, allowing to display photos at max possible scale and browse a folder at the same time. In conjunction with parameters auto-adjustment that allows to get rid of usual photo viewers multi-mode scheme (browsing mode, viewing mode, fullscreen mode) and effectivelly do all the things in a single mode.
The next key feature of Tweed is RAW support: along with usual image formats like JPEG, GIF, BMP, PNG and etc. program supports about 300 cams RAW image formats (dcraw based), so it is no longer required to convert photos before viewing. |
