| 2.Cache for Google Earth |
|
29/Aug/2009 |
|
|
May I use "Google Earth" even without internet?
YES: Without internet "Google Earth" cannot load new maps, but the former visited maps stay in the computer. "Google Earth" remembers images and maps once shown in the screen in its so called Cache memory. This cache is stored to the local disk and therefore also available without internet connection. Therefore it is also called offline memory.
As long as this cache is'nt full all recently "overflown" areas are still available.
And exactly thit is the problem! When the cache is full it overwrites the oldest data by newer ones. Nobody knows when the cache is full and less which data are automatically overwritten.
If I need a specific area after weeks for a presentation wihout internet these data are lost. There's only a fuzzy background without details. "Google Earth" has overwitten exactly this area cause someone has prepared his holiday trip on the same computer.
All the worse if you wanted to use "Google Earth" with GPS out of home and the necessary maps have disapeared.
Google Earth itself provides no oppotunity to backup its cache data or to transfer it to another computer.

At this point apply "Cache for Google Earth"!
Backup your cache with precisely that maps you need for later use.
Stay informed about the "filling level" of the cache.
Exchange prepared cache copies with other computers.

Features:
Management of copies of the Google Earth Cache,
Save an arbitrary number of copies of the Offline-Cache of Google Earth,
Define exact start with "New project",
Activate desired offline map stocks,
Full control of the state of the current cache,
Graphical overview of "filling state" and date/time of last modification,
Start and close "Google Earth" directly from the Cache-Manager's interface

|

|
|
"BDE eXpress for Vista" installs an adapted "Borland Database Engine" (BDE) to acces Paradox- und dBase-Datenbases under Windows Vista. Integrated tool to backup databases and upgrade to the vista compatible data format Paradox 7.
The Borland Database Engine (shortly BDE ) is an interface of the company Firma Borland Inc. to access databases. It provides the access to well known databases as dBase and Paradox.
A lot of well known programs are using the BDE. Normally the user don'nt know that he's using the BDE. But if he try to run the same program unter Windows Vista appears the message
" Error initializing the Borland Database Engine". At this moment it is obvious that not the software is bad but there's no compatible instalation of the BDE for Windows Vista present.
With "Windows Vista" Microsoft introduced a lot of changes egarding the file acces and rights of users and programs.
Per default the original BDE is'nt made for "Windows Vista" specific environment conditions. This does'nt mean that BDE is'nt a professionel database system. Well installed on Windows Vista the BDE runs as confidential as ever on other Windows systems.

|

|
|
"GPS for Google Earth" converts the free Google-Earth-Version into to a realtime GPS-navigation for laptop and netbook. The own GPS-position it shown and tracked in real time in "Google Earth". Also by night, with fog or mist you'll see your current movement like on a bright day on the screen.
Each tour is automatically recorded. One may play animations of formerly recorded GPS logs.
Each one how owns a Laptop or Netbook has with "GPS for Google Earth" a navigation tool for the road, offroad, on the water or on the air.
In addition one needs only a little GPS receiver. There's no need to bye a full navigational system. A so called GPS mouse or a GPS USB dongle are available in low cost level.
The connection may be established by cable, USB or Bluetooth. The software itself is'nt restricted to a special manufacturer.
The program works with each GPS Receiver that provides NMEA. But this is the case for all commercially available receivers.
The program is'nt retricted to only one country. The GPS reception works all over the world and is independent of the internet. Even in fare-away places you'll find a way there and back.
Even without mobile internet one may use the system out of the home. "Google Earth" remembers images and maps once shown in the screen in its so called Cache memory.
If you revise calmly at home all interesting areas (you plan to visit on a tour) in "Google Earth" with an active internet conmection, all this maps stay available in "Google Earth" even after disconnecting the internet. Now you may take the Latop into the car or on the boat and will have all necessary maps "in the bag".
