When important files are changed, IBM Continuous Data Protection (CDP) will make an immediate local copy of the file (so you're protected even if not on a network) and will schedule another copy to go to some off-machine target. Which can be a USB disk, a file server / NAS, an internet provider, etc.
BIG NEWS!! The recent VARBusiness Tech Innovator awards were judged by a panel of solution-provider executives and VARBusiness Magazine editors. The judges scored the products based on five main points: usefulness, how new and/or improved the product is, where it sits on the price/performance, revenue potential and the "coolness" factor.
IBM's Tivoli Continuous Data Protection for Files (CDP) went home the big winner in the storage hardware and software category. IBM Corporation was once again the big winner - taking honors in the top three categories.
Tivoli CDP is a winner!

When files change, CDP makes a backup. Locally, and to an off-machine target. The off machine target can be as simple as a USB key/disk, or a file server, or a webserver or a Tivoli Storage Manager server. CDP will wait paitently if the network isn't available so your backups never fail!
