A common but inefficient method of creating workshop ready drawings is to create the top view, the front view, a side view and sometimes an isometric view of a 3D model all in the 2D XY plane. Then these 3 or 4 views are placed relative to each other to give the end user a complete idea of what the 3D model is all about.
