The Little Yellow Books(TM) are part of a complete reading instructional program born out of research and development conducted by Southwest Research Laboratory (SWRL), a private lab financed by the federal government, 1966 - 1979. SWRL created this highly successful reading program used by 15% of U.S. schools in the early 1970s. Follow-up studies confirmed that children who learned to read using this program outperformed their peers in reading and overall academic achievement even when tested as high school seniors.
