QuickTranslator is handy little program you can use to perform translations. Support is offered for English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Korean and Arabic. Select the languages you're working with, and paste or type the text. One mouse click later, the text is translated. The actual translation engine is online, so you'll need an active connection, but you won't have long to wait -- even lengthy paragraphs are returned in seconds. This fine program performs admirably and can be a great asset when dealing with foreign text, email, or even chat.
